I’m writing you today to alert you about a very nasty ransomware attack that was deployed yesterday called WanaCrypt0r.
WanaCrypt0r targets all Windows-based computers and servers. Once you’re infected with WanaCrypt0r, it encrypts ALL of your files using RSA-2048 encryption–meaning that it will be next to impossible to get your files back if you are infected!
I urge you to download Malwarebytes ASAP and run it on your computer, Please follow this link: https://www.malwarebytes.com/ and install the free trial. You can purchase the protection if you want to but it’s not required.
After you download and install Malwarebytes, please either call us or go to this site: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/4013389/title, find the patch from Microsoft for your computer and install it. After installing this patch, please make sure to update your computer with the latest updates from Microsoft by running your Windows Update program, just click the start button and type in “update” and the “Windows Update” or “Check for Updates” options will come up for you to update your computer.
To keep your computer up-to-date follow these instructions from Microsoft:
Windows 7 (and earlier) Users: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/306525/how-to-configure-and-use-automatic-updates-in-windows
